Group activities

Community is a practice, not a tagline.

The group side of Lyft is one of the quieter parts of what care can do. Our activities bring people together around food, creativity, and shared outings — building confidence, friendships, and the rhythm that makes a week feel like a week.

Why we do this

It's rarely the activity itself that matters most.

Group activities are where we see some of the biggest changes in participants' wellbeing — not because the cooking class or the outing is extraordinary, but because turning up week after week, alongside the same familiar faces, is.

Participants arrive unsure and leave lighter. Families get quiet reassurance that there's more to a week than appointments. Support workers get to see the people they're with in a different light — and often, that's what unlocks the rest of the care.

Weekly classes

The weekly programs that anchor the Lyft calendar. Small groups, consistent faces, a warm pace — designed so people feel comfortable coming back.

Food · Friendship · Conversation

Community Kitchen

Come together to share recipes, cook simple meals, and connect around the table. It isn't about being a chef — it's about laughter, conversation, and the quiet confidence that comes from making something alongside other people.

Places we love

Our regulars.

Alongside the calendar, there are a handful of places we come back to again and again — because they work, and because familiarity matters.

The Lyft Community group inside the Royal Botanic Gardens conservatory.

Royal Botanic Gardens

Picnics on warm days, glasshouses on wet ones. A slower afternoon surrounded by greenery — good for everyone's nervous system.

Two participants picking strawberries under clear blue sky.

Strawberry picking at Sunny Ridge

Down on the Peninsula in season — rows of strawberries, quiet conversation, and usually a cone of ice cream on the way out.

A participant riding the Melbourne Star observation wheel.

Melbourne Star

A slow loop above the city with the whole pod to ourselves. Big windows, small group, and plenty of things to point at.

“Care that feels like something” isn't an abstraction — it's the whole crew together at the end of the year.
